Dimapur, Dec 17: With only one- third of the students studying in government schools despite government’s effort in selecting the best and top teachers, minister of School Education and SCERT, Yitachu encouraged the public to enrol in government schools saying, ‘we are losing the talents government is giving to mould the future generation.’
Yitachu said this while addressing the golden jubilee celebration of Government High School, Sungro in Wokha district on December 14 as the chief guest. Yitachu termed the occasion as a joyous moment to recall and celebrate the visions and farsightedness of the forefathers and elders who have put in effort in establishing the institution despite inadequate infrastructure, communication and connectivity. He also lauded the pioneers of the school for producing many responsible citizens from the school.
He called upon the school management to give more effort in developing education system and provide quality education so that other government institutions may emulate the success and good results of the school. Stating that education must address the need of the hour, Yitachu appealed to the teachers to give quality education and equip the students with knowledge so that they may become an asset not only for the range people but for the State and nation. The chief guest also released the jubilee souvenir. Guest of honour and Secretary of Food & Civil Supplies, Legal & Metrology and Consumer Protection, Ramongo Lotha shared his experiences on how GHS Sungo came into being and produced responsible citizens since its inception. He urged the employees to have job contentment and serve with sincerity and dedication wherever they are posted.
Additional Director (HOD) of School Education, Wonthungo Tsopoe, in his special greetings said, GHS Sungro is one of the best government schools in the district.He urged the teaching faculty to put more effort in order to bring out better results as in the past.
Assistant Development Commissioner, Wokha, Mhonsao Ezung also spoke during the celebration. Headmistress GHS Sungro delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Assistant Headmaster GHS, Sungro.
