Dimapur, May 24 (EMN): Nagaland Minister for School Education and SCERT, Yitachu and a team of RMSA and SCERT officials on May 23 inspected ongoing construction works on government institutes at Meluri sub-division in Phek district.
Along with RMSA officials led by Joint Mission directors Kevi Rio and Visiezolie Yashii, the minister inspected the new building construction of the government higher secondary school and new extention rooms for class-IX and class-X of the government high school of Meluri.
They interacted with the contractors, who revealed that due to February violence and bandh the progress of the work was halted for sometime as materials could not be transported.
After inspecting the work progress, Yitachu expressed happiness and asked the contractors to expedite the work.
He said that the department was undertaking GIS Mapping of all the government schools from Primary to Higher Secondary level which expected to be completed within next two months.
Thereafter, the department will be undertaking complete rationalisation of schools and deployment of teachers with a view to enhance the performance of government schools in general.
However, Kevi Rio expressed happiness that the works were now going smoothly. He was hopeful that the next 2018 academic session would commence from the new building.
He revealed that the new building of the governmnet higher secondary school of Meluri was being funded by Union Ministry of Human Resources Development while class-IX and class-X extensions for the government high school was being funded by the Ministry of DoNER.
Kevi revealed that the Union Ministry of DoNER was also separately funding the establishment of a computer laboratory for tghe governmnet higher secondary school of Meluri and Medziphema.
The minister and the team inspected the construction works on the Blocks Institute of Teachers Education at Meluri under SCERT funded by the Union Ministy of Human resource Development; and Tribal Boys Hostel funded by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
