Correspondent KOHIMA, OCTOBER 18 Parliamentary secretary for School Education Yitachu on Saturday underscored the need for all stakeholders to facilitate the growth and upgradation of the system of education in the state. Pointing out that education in India is a concurrent phase where both the Centre and the states can formulate their own system of education, he said Nagaland should also frame its own system, but one that is comparable and compatible with other states at the national level. The parliamentary secretary said this while launching the Career CliniQ Smart Tutor product at Hotel Japfu, Kohima. Yitachu also announced the implementation of the Career CliniQ Smart Tutor across 95 schools in the different districts of Nagaland in the first phase which will be followed up with additional deployments on successful implementation. He implied that the primary reason for this immediate implementation is to cater to the problem of a large shortfall in science and maths teachers in the state. He lamented that most people are confined to their own world without paying heed to the plight of the needy students in the far flung areas. The newly launched Smart Tutor is seen as an alternative solution to this problem and also viewed as an attempt to improve the quality of teaching as well a tool that will enable the students to learn better. While endorsing the product provided by Career CliniQ, Yitachu underscored the need to check that the syllabus which is being incorporated in the state is properly taken into account so that the students are not misled. He expressed optimism for a success of the product in the state and encouraged the teachers to make use of it as a substitute for the benefit of the students and to impart education. Stating that children's futures lie in the hands of their teachers, the parliamentary secretary called upon the teaching community to take a resolute stand towards their profession to bring about real transformation in the education system of the state. He further asked students to step forward and give their feedback on the Smart Tutor after they experience the product. The Smart Tutor product was unveiled by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) chairperson Asano Sekhose and a thorough demonstration of the same was given by Career CliniQ director Dr. Anirban Choudhury. Dr. Choudhury explained that Career CliniQ Smart Tutor pack is a software product for students to learn in a fun way with digital contents of their entire school courseware in the form of 3D animation videos as well as live real-life videos. He said it is a per class solution which comes in a plug and play USB device for better usability and acceptability that needs a Windows-based machine to run. It also comes loaded on a SD card device for android based tablets or phones, he informed. He also stated the Smart Tutor will initially be installed in the teachers common room in the schools so that teachers could study the subjects and enter their respective classes with greater confidence and clarity. Also the individual students would be encouraged to procure the product at a subsidized cost so that they could self-learn and understand concepts with greater clarity, which, he viewed, will reduce the dependence of private tuitions to a great extent. Further, he informed that the courseware is CBSE approved and follows the NCERT syllabus as recommended by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, and the content was prepared by top educationists from the leading institutions of the country, which has been reviewed by the esteemed panel of experts from NCERT and SCERT. On the implementation of the product statewide, he sought logistics support from the department of School Education. A host of education department officials attended the launching programme including SCERT director Vipralhou Kesiezie, RMSA state mission director Thejao Vihienuo, Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training additional director Y Vandanshan Lotha, School Education joint director Ruovilhulie Angami, private school principals, head teachers and academicians.
