Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): The Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) on Saturday temporarily suspended its first phase of agitation for upgrading Shamator sub-division into a full-fledged district till further notice.

The announcement came a day after the state cabinet decided to engage a third party to discuss matters related to the demand for Shamator district.

The apex body of the Yimkhiung tribe informed that the Likimro Hydroelectric Power Plant can resume operation and the prohibition on entry of visitors to Mt. Saramati, Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary, stone caves at Salomi and Mimi lifted. On this, it informed all the administrative headquarters under YTC for immediate compliance.

However, the council warned that it will resume democratic agitation till justice is delivered if the government of Nagaland fails to fulfil “the assurance” at the earliest.

The YTC had been holding public rallies since Monday (Five days), demanding creation of  Shamator district
