Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): A premier festival of Yimchungru tribe ‘Tsungkamneo’ was celebrated on January 16 in the residence of Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) sub- treasurer in Pungro town under Kiphire district.
A press release from the organisers informed that the extra assistant commissioner (EAC), Pungro, Wiridin, was invited as special invitee. Speaking on the occasion, the EAC emphasised on the importance conserving culture and tradition. He urged upon the people to preserve culture and tradition in order to keep its identity alive.
The significance of Tsungkamneo was highlighted by the head GB Pungro, Musumong. Folk songs were performed by Shorih colony and Forest ward, Pungro.
The programme was chaired by YTC social and cultural secretary, Kinan, while the welcome address was delivered by YTC executive chairman, Shelimthong. The programme was attended by various HoDs of Pungro ADC Hq., and leaders of civil societies.
