YHSU conference focuses on building future foundation

DIMAPUR — The second edition of the Yongnyah Hongnyü Students’ Union (YHSU) conference was held from December 27 to the 29th, at Yongnyah village, Longleng district, on the motto ‘Building the future foundation.’
Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, W Manpai was the guest of honour during the inaugural programme of the of three-day conference, A DIPR report stated.
In his address, the DC congratulated the YHSU for organising such an event which, he said, will “ameliorate the rich culture and tradition for future improvement and aspiration.”
Informing that government jobs have reached saturation point, Manpai urged the educated youth to look for other ventures and ways for growth and productivity.
He also released a book titled ‘Aiwang Shahjeb Laaitap’ which will help the students in particular to learn their native idioms and phrases, word meaning and riddles.
Additionally, the DC inaugurated the cultural competition programme and witnessed the spectacular performances from different units.
Dr. B Henshet, vice principal of Yingli College, Longleng, spoke on the topic ‘Empowering educated youths for self-employment and entrepreneurship through skill development.’
Y Tauhong, DWO Zunheboto, also shared that tourism holds enormous opportunities for educated youth and W Balung, EAC of Phek, gave his thought on success in “premium competitions.”
L Meilung Phom, project assistant at Tribal Affairs Department, Kohima, spoke on the topic ‘Education is key to development’ and C Lishen Menhahü, seventh topper of HSLC 2023 also shared her success story.
The conference concluded with handing over of the conference flag to the YHSU president by the convenor of planning committee, which was followed by a candle light service.
The conference was attended by over 300 students from five units of YHSU - Kohima, Dimapur, Longleng, Yongnyah town and Yongnyah village.
