Dimapur, Jan. 23: The silver jubilee celebration of the Yimchungru Baptist Church Dimapur (YBCD) on the theme “Proclaim the goodness of the Lord” concluded on January 22 with Rev. Z Thsankiu, executive secretary YBBA, and Khalenmew, mission secretary YBBA, as speakers.
In his sermon, Rev. Z Thsankiu said the coming of the Christ is for the poor, prisoners, underprivileged and sinners in order to bring them closer to God through salvation. He urged the congregation to understand the greatness of God and walk in the shadow of Christ.
M Khalenmew highlighted that in 1936 the first Gospel to Yimchunger land was brought by the missionaries of Sumi tribe from where the word of God spread rapidly. He reminded that it was God’s blessing and vision to raise many achievers in different fields from YBCD.
He further encouraged YBCD to reach out to the needy and underprivileged one where the gospel has not been reached through raising of missionaries, prayers and sponsorship.
Special songs were presented by Yimchungrü Baptist Church Kohima, YBC Mokokchung and Showuba Baptist Church.
T Torechu, MLA & Chairman NKVIB, in his greeting message motivated the congregations to learn from the advanced tribes in church activities, educational sector and socio-economic field as Yimchunger tribe is a young community. He also encouraged the congregations to be a community of honesty, humility and extend cooperation to fellow neighbours.
R Tohanba Yimchunger, Parliamentary Secretary of Municipal Affairs, Economics & Statistics, encouraged the church community to grow in spiritual life. He urged to re-evaluate YBCD achievements in the last 25 years and seek to re-examine whether it has reached the expectations. He encouraged working with diligence and prayerfully while marching towards the golden jubilee. He further said the church should play pivotal role in grooming the youngsters and motivate them to opt for different professional lines and impart soft skills training.
PKF Tochu, president WYH, encouraged the congregations to put God’s first in all of their decision and activities. He also urged to examine one’s spiritual life and rededicate their faith for the greater glory of God’s kingdom.
Nokrunba, Head DB, Niuland, also spoke on the occasion.
Words of gratitude was delivered by Dr. Ramji, planning secretary of silver jubilee.
