Dimapur, Jan. 22: The Yimchunger Baptist Church Dimapur (YBCD) celebrated its 25th years of God’s faithfulness on January 21 and 22.
Dr. Toshila, women secretary YBBA while speaking on the first day of the jubilee programme, shared that the gender inequality was prevalent from many centuries but with the coming of Christ and His unconditional love, the chain of inequality has been set free.
Equal preference and privileged should be honoured to girl child as well if we wanted to grow both spiritually and socially in our own life, church or community, Dr. Toshila said adding God does not distinguished between male and female but sees as children of God.
Further quoting from the Scripture Galatians 5: 22-23, she encouraged the congregation to install the fruit of the spirit i.e. love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control in our daily life and activities. She asserted that change is enviable if we change our mindset.
K Zungkum, convenor History Committee, highlighted on the formation of YBCD dating back in 1991 when 22 houses formed à fellowship chain. From 1992 under the Executive Secretary of YBBA Rev. Akum the church was affiliated. He said the early church was built through the kind contribution of various Yimchungrü churches around Dimapur district and well wishers.
A short speech was delivered by Akhrieo Kire, GB Kuda ‘ C’ khel, where he conveyed greetings to present church leaders and members for the attainment of 25th years of its existence and even extend appreciation to pioneers for their sacrifices and vision of what YBCD is today.
LK Among, former pastor, shared the memories as the first pastor of YBCD - the struggle, blessings and achievements. He said it was an honoured and privileged to serve at the church and conveyed appreciation for the support he received from the members.
The programme was chaired by H Tosangla, Sunday School teacher, while the Scripture reading and prayer was led by Shojila, women secretary YBCD and the welcome address by Rhakho Janger, convener jubilee committee. Special song was presented by YBC Chumukedima and jubilee choir respectively and the benediction was said by Mongkila Yamakam.
