Dimapur, May 30 (EMN): The Yai Zone Wildlife Control Committee (YZWCC) comprising of nine villages namely Y-Aünru, Shiponger, Losolo, Chassir, Leangkonger, Wapher and Rurur-A and Rurur-B and Sikiur-B has resolved to strictly enforce ban on hunting within its jurisdiction stretching from Y-Aünrü to Kimiphu village under Shamator and Chessore sub-division in Tuensang district.
The resolution to this effect was taken during its general meeting held on May 27 at its head office located at Leangkonger village.
The committee has resolved to penalise any individual or a group of persons with a sum of INR 50000 for killing rare and endangered species namely stag, tiger and bear. It stated that the defaulters would not be allowed to retain any of the part of the killed/ dead remains but made liable to submit to the committee.
The committee also resolved to award sum of INR 5000 to any person providing information regarding killing of endangered species.
It resolved that no individual would be allowed to kill birds namely Amur Falcon, Hornbill, Tragopan, Great Barbet, and Green Barbet within its jurisdiction. It warned that defaulter would be penalised with a sum of INR 25000.
The committee has also resolved to ban use of chemicals and other items for fishing within the Yai Zone. It stated that sum of INR 50,000 would be imposed for using poison/ chemicals, INR 25,000 for using battery/ generator, and INR 15,000 for using explosive items, fishing net.
It further resolved to permit only the respective village council members to become executives of the committee and to constitute chairman and secretary from among the executives only.
This was stated in a joint statement issued by the committee general secretary, K Phanongkiu and the executive chairman, K Joseph.
