
Achumbemo Kikon with match officials, Wokha District
Football Association members, DC Wokha, and the players of the final match at
the local ground in Wokha on Wednesday.
- WOKHA — XI Brothers have retained the Lotha Football
Championship (LFC), the final of which was played on Wednesday at the local
ground in Wokha. Achumbemo Kikon, MLA and chairman of SDPDB, Bhandari, was the
special guest at the closing ceremony.
- Playing against Nitsyan FC, XI Brothers opened their account
with a goal in the sixth minute by Mhabemo Kikon, which was equalised by Nchum
Murry in the ninth minute for Nitsyan FC.
- The first half saw an intense display of football from both
XI Brothers and Nitsyan FC, ending 1-1 after 45 minutes.
- Defending champions XI Brothers launched a strong attack in
the second half, with Toka scoring a goal for the team in the 79th minute.
Substitute player Wonrhon, who replaced Benri in the 60th minute, scored two
goals for XI Brothers in the 81st and 90+ minutes, ending the match with a 4-1
victory.
- The individual awards for the tournament were as follows:
- Best goalkeeper: Mhademo Kikon (Nitsyan FC)
- Best defender: Mhabemo Kikon (XI Brothers)
- Best midfielder: Khiunango (XI Brothers)
- Highest scorer: Hatsabemo Ezung (XI Brothers, scored 12
goals)
- Player of the tournament: Yiben Ezung (Nitsyan FC)
- Earlier, speaking at the brief closing ceremony, Kikon
stated that the community's mentality and actions are vital for the progress
and advancement of society. He encouraged the spectators to motivate the
players to perform well without losing their composure on the field.
- He emphasised that spectators contribute significantly to
the performance of the players and urged them to display good sportsmanship.
- Kikon encouraged them to adopt a new perspective and
approach with the start of the new year, challenging them to keep public
places, such as government offices and playgrounds, clean as if they were their
own property.
