Brothers will take on Nitsyan FC in the final of the ongoing Lotha Football
Championship (LFC) 2025, scheduled for January 22 at the local ground in Wokha.
The tournament is organised by the Wokha District Football Association (WDFA).
- On Tuesday, the first semifinal match was played between XI
Brothers and Mount Morashen Club (MMC), with XI Brothers defeating MMC 6-0.
- Hatsabemo scored a hat-trick in the 15th, 45th, and 85th
minutes. Toka doubled the lead with goals in the 40th and 78th minutes, while
Awangbo added another in the 26th minute.
- In the second semifinal match, Humtso SA dominated the first
half, with Lanchibemo scoring in the first minute. He went on to complete a
hat-trick, adding goals in the 9th and 24th minutes, giving his team a strong
lead. However, they were unable to defend their advantage in full-time play.
- Nitsyan FC responded with a goal from Yiben in the 2nd
minute, who went on to complete a hat-trick with goals in the 34th and 89th
minutes. The team faced a tough first half, trailing 2-3, but managed to
equalise at 3-3 against Humtso SA in the 75th minute, with a goal from Paoilen.
- The match ended 4-3 in favour of Nitsyan FC, with Yiben
scoring the winning goal in the 89th minute from the penalty spot.
- The defenders of Humtso SA committed a dangerous foul
against Nitsyan FC's striker Yiben inside the penalty box, resulting in a
penalty kick being awarded by the referee, Khrniesa. Yiben comfortably
converted the penalty into a goal.
- The final match of the tournament will be attended by
Achumbemo Kikon, MLA and chairman of SDPDB, Bhandari, as the special guest.
- Referees from the Kohima District Referee Board and Wokha
District Referee Board are assisting with officiating in the ongoing 14th LFC
tournament.
