Imphal, Nov. 11 (EMN): The X Polo Club, Wangkhei, emerged as the champions of the 36th edition of the N Hazari and Dr. N Tombi State Polo Tournament, 2022, in the final match played at the Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal town, on Friday.

In the final match of the state’s biggest polo tournament, X Polo Club Wangkhei (Imphal East district) defeated Tekcham Polo Club Tekcham (Thoubal district) 7-6.

The champion team received cash prize of INR 50,000 along with trophy while the runner-up team won INR 40,000 and trophy.

The prizes to the winning teams were awarded by the additional chief secretary, P Vaiphei, while the teams also received T-shirts from director of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Ibotombi.

S Saoulin of Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club bagged the best young star polo player of the year.

President of Manipur Horse Riding & Polo Association (MHRPA), H Deleep Singh, horse-riding executives, former executives and senior members were present during the closing function.

It may be mentioned that the 36th N Hazari and Dr. N Tombi State Polo Tournament commenced on October 22 with 29 polo teams from 24 polo clubs of the state taking part.
