Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): The Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) has drawn the attention of the Chief Minister for intervention into the deplorable condition of the roads around Dimapur town with particular reference to the road stretching from Nagaland Gate to Chumukedima (National Highway 29), the lifeline of the Nagaland and Manipur, stating it needed immediate repairs and maintenance at the earliest.
In a representation to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, the union apprised that there has been an unprecedented rise of accidents each passing day with many reported deaths due to pathetic road conditions, which is more likely to deteriorate during monsoon season. Besides, it said the gigantic pot-holes are also creating un-ending traffic jams making the lives of the people difficult and miserable.
WSSU president Nito Achumi and the general secretary Angukato Yeptho said the union, on behalf of the students/commuters of Dimapur district, resolved to spearhead the move to demand for pliable roads.
In this regard, the union requested the Chief minister to intervene into the genuine matter for the welfare of the people and do the needful within 10 (ten) days from the receipt of this representation. It further stated that union will have no other option but to proceed with further course of action till its legitimate demands are met.
