Unity College of Teacher Education conducted a five-day workshop on the topic “Drama in education” from January 12 to 16 for the two year B.Ed trainees.
Resource person, Temjenzungba, with his degree from the National School of Drama, New Delhi, enthralled the trainees with lively lecture sessions and application activities by recreating live to the life syllabus and learning by doing.
Some of the objectives of the workshop were to understand the application of drama as a medium of teaching, elucidate different expression and develop pedagogy of teaching through different techniques of theater and to engage in various integrative activities for personal development and growth using drama in education and sharing a imaginative world and drama as rehearsing for the reality and simplifying the conventional notion of education through simple moments and gestures.
The workshop proved to be a big boon to all the trainees and faculty as well. Such interactive exchanges act as a catalyst in bringing out innate qualities and polishing of skills requisite of a teacher.
