Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) has opened Khelhoshe Memorial English School (KMES) at Lalpahar, Tinsukia district, Assam on March 28. The school was inaugurated by SDO (C) Margherita, Bikram Kairi IAS and dedicated by Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi, executive secretary WSBAK.

In a press release stated that as part of its mission initiative, the WSBAK conceived to open a school at upper Assam. The school has been named after late Khelhoshe Sema who was the first and the only Minister when Naga's were part of then Assam state under the Chief Ministership of Bishnuram Medhi in the year 1957-58.
He also mentioned that there are 6 Sümi villages in upper Assam and most of the younger generations have stopped speaking Sümi language and therefore Khelhoshe Memorial English School (KMES) will also teach Sümi language along with English, Assamese and Hindi.
The children of late Sema, K. Khekiye Sema, IAS Retd.; Ghukhato Chishi, project director Music Task Force, Nagaland; Ghotoli Hokhezhe and Kagholi were present at the the inaugural service along with host of parents, teachers and students of KMES.
The programme was chaired by Jogdang Jugli; invocation by Rev. Shikuho Zhimomi, Secretary Mission & Evangelism WSBAK; special song was presented by KMES students and staff; vote of thanks was proposed by Hokheto Sema GB Longtong village, president of All Assam GBs’ Association and benediction was pronounced by Simon, Pastor Tsaliki Baptist Church.
The School Managing Board and WSBAK have thanked all those who have contributed towards the establishment of the school.
