Kohima, Aug. 5 (EMN): Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has strongly denounced the dastardly act of Zasituo Tsükrü of Dihoma village, who reportedly raped a mother of two children in Kohima on Aug. 2.
“Whereas the society gives due respect to wrestlers and they themselves maintain high moral standard as a wrestler, this shameful act has brought shame to our society in general and wrestling fraternity in particular,” NWA general secretary, Vekhozo, and the president Neivikuolie Khatsü said in a joint press release.
NWA has expressed resentment over the heinous crime committed by one of its member, who was expected to be the guardian of fairer sex. While condemning the ‘devilish and abominable act,’ the association has appealed to the concerned authority to take appropriate action as per the law of the land and award befitting punishment to the culprit.
The Gorkha public panchayat Kohima (GPPK) and Gorkha Mahila Samity Kohima (GMSK) have condemned the rape of a mother of two children on August 2. While condemning the heinous crime, presidents of GPPK and GMSK have appreciated the villagers for the timely intervention in apprehending the accused and handing over to the police.
The two organisations have appealed the law enforcing agencies to take up the case seriously to deter recurrence of such incidents. Meanwhile, the organisations have sympathised with the victim.
