Wokha, Jan. 17 (EMN): Wonthungo Tsopoe, Director of School Education, graced the 48th general conference of Wozhuro Range Students’ Union (WRSU) at Wozhuro ground on January 17.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated that Wozhuro by its name is unique in many ways as people from the community looked up to them as pioneer in many fields including religion, education, social and cultural etc. He urged upon the students and to all the leaders present to introspect the challenges bestowed to them with seriousness and dedication and replicate all good qualities of their ancestors in their daily life.
He also instilled upon the community to inculcate unity, honesty, hospitality and hard work, which were the values of their forefathers.He also encouraged the students to promote culture by organising competition among the units during such conference. He also advised promoting traditional attires and encourage the use of own language.
He further appealed students’ leaders and the community to initiate preserving and protecting the flora and fauna in their locality. He further urged upon the students to invest their time in their studies stating that education is the only weapon that can transform a society.
Special number based on the theme ‘Break through excellence beyond horizons’ was enchanted by Thungdemo Kyong, chief of team Metamorphosis.
Lipemo M Tsopoe, LSU president, urged upon the units to safeguard the interest, promote culture and to work for the student’s community. Expressing concerned on the increasing numbers of educated unemployed youth, he urged the village leaders and councils to give importance on the youth and not to harbour illegal immigrants.
Assistant director of school education, who attended the programme, also spoke on the occasion. In his exhortation, he stated that no money or political power will would help them excel but only through education. He has further urged the students to acknowledge God and work hard to achieve success in life.
