The history records that the Roman emperor Caligula made his favourite horse Incitatus, a senator, with all powers above all the human senators. Such decree passed on the most capable leaders of the citizens in Roman empire simply proved Caligula to be mere crack pot.
The Emperor Caligula was mentally unfit to rule his country when he rated an animal to be above human. Yet, the history did not record of his hatred against humanity to the extent of killing his subjects. The emperor’s folly was only that his Incitatus could give him a ride and whereas his senators could not physically carry him around like the horse for which he preferred the horse. The end result is just funny.Whereas, the NDA led BJP Government in India places cow above the status of beef eaters. The BJP Govt. in India rates cows more valuable than human life, ridiculous. The prevailing slogan is Protect cows and kill its Eaters. Now, who is not aware of the killing of Mohammad Akhlaq on 28.9.2015 by Hinduism activists at Bisara Village in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh for allegedly butchering of a calf and eating its meat.
The lynching of Akhlaq by 200 strong Hindu mob was not an isolated case. Reacting to the incident, Union Minister for Culture Mahesh Sharma termed it as ‘unfortunate accident’. The murder was never an accident as it was a wilful act of BJP workers. Another local Hinduism leader called the murderers an ‘innocent children’. Whatever may be the exercise of Amit Shah, President, BJP for face saving by summoning his adjutants who have been rein leaders in abetting crimes against religious minorities, it failed to camouflage the tacit approval given for such brutish acts by BJP top brasses. Under the leadership of PM Modi, today maximum Nathuram Godses have been produced and they are doing more than what emperor Caligula did.
During 2014 Lok Sabha elections, sufficient warnings and threats from BJP leaders were there against Christians, Muslims and other minorities. Accordingly, Christian nuns were raped, Churches were ransacked, the red letter days as Christmas and Easter were erased from the Calendar of BJP Govt. During 2014 election campaign, the Bihar BJP leader Giriraj threatened voters that those who oppose Narendra Modi’s leadership should go to Pakistan. Ramdev, a yogi and a sannyasi who has huge following among the Hindus has termed beef eating as crime. “Consuming beef in the name of scriptures such as Quran and Bible is an act of crime and amounts to violence. If killing humans amounts to violence, killing cow amounts to violence,” said Ramdev. We the beef eaters are not wanted here in India by BJP as another BJP leader said that whoever eats beef must leave the country.
The Eastern Mirror reproduced the article of Vinay Krishna Chaturvedi which was published in the RSS mouthpiece and the same was carried by Indian Express that Vedas considers killing of cow as sin. The Vedas therefore justifies the killing of Akhlaq, ‘the sinner.’ According to Hindu belief Akhlaq was considered unfit to be an Indian citizen and therefore had to be killed.
Today, the job of a dietician tops the agenda of BJP. The 1.2 billion Indians are advised by BJP and its cohorts what to eat and what not to eat. What a wisdom! For the same reason of eating beef, the Independent MLA Er. Rashid in Janmu & Kasmir Assembly was manhandled by BJP MLAs in the House. Again the same MLA was smeared during press conference with waste mobil and ink by BJP activists. Will Indian democracy accommodate the imposition of Hindu culture on non-Hindus?
Can Hinduism become stronger with such attempts of oppressions against minorities? Will the Hinduism oppression decimate the population of religious minorities? Not possible. Whatever attempt the Hinduism fundamentalists do to strengthen Hinduism at the cost of minorities and unity in diversity, their agenda including beef ban will remain like NLTP Act of 1989 for one reason that Hindus are the main exporters of beef as exposed.
On the contrary, the image of India is tarnished in the eye of others. Dr. Farooq Abdullah, former CM of J&K and former Union
Minister has condemned the activities of BJP activists saying that such intolerance has turned India into a ‘strange country’. Not less than 23 Sahitya Akademi award winners returned their awards in protest against the killing of a renown writer MM Kalburgi and alleged beef eater Akhlaq, etc. The President of India Pranab Mukherjee has reminded BJP government that ‘tolerance and acceptance of dissent on the wane’. Nevertheless, the BJP will neither pay heed to these calls nor take those warnings as deterrent since their agenda is if not now what better time can come for the Hindus to assert.
The intolerance of Hinduism activists has therefore posed serious threat to Christians, Muslims and other minorities. GOI talks about pacifying insurgent groups with two options, the first is peace deals and the second alternative is with force to wipe out those who do not honour peaceful negotiations. Thus, the GOI is sensitive to the presence of insurgent elements in India which are considered destructive. Yet, is BJP aware that its workers too are perpetrating terror activities against the minor citizens of the country?
Considering the degree of threats posed by BJP workers against non-Hindus for being Christian or Muslim or for eating beef are nothing less than acts of terror. Mohammad Akhlaq, MM Kalburgi and Zahid (who was killed on 9.10. 2015) were not killed by ISIS or by terrorists from Pakistan. Still then, they could not survive the attacks from Hinduism activists with the tacit support of BJP.
Definitely, non-Hindus in India are facing BJP sponsored terrorism in India today.
The PM Modi recently said that Indira Gandhi’s emergency was biggest blow to Indian democracy. Ok. With the few instances cited above, how much Indian democracy is being strengthened under his leadership. With the kind of intensive and widespread dichotomy between Hindus and non-Hindus due to Hinduism agenda, how much integration is being strengthened?
