DIMAPUR — Marking a significant milestone in Nagaland's journey towards menopause awareness, World Menopause Day was celebrated for the first time in Nagaland at the WSBAK prayer centre in Henivi village on Saturday.
An update from WSBAK prayer centre stated that the event was chaired by Khekatoli Kiba, counselor at WSBAK prayer centre, and featured keynote speech by Alokali Zhimomi, counselor and author of ‘Menopause: embracing your midlife.’
Speaking at the programme, Alokali Zhimomi emphasised the importance of spreading awareness about menopause and highlighted the significance of World Menopause Day, founded by the International Menopause Society in 2009. She discussed the role of lifestyle medicine in menopausal health, citing the IMS White Paper (2025) and shared practical tips on managing menopause symptoms through healthy eating, physical activity, restorative sleep, mental wellbeing and healthy relationships.

The event provided a safe space for 26 women participants to share their experiences and ask questions through breakout sessions and a Q&A session.
It stated that sanitary napkins were distributed to all participants and one lucky winner received a copy of Alokali Zhimomi's book.
It mentioned that the event was aimed at promoting awareness, support and inclusivity for women experiencing menopause.
