Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): The World Malaria Day was observed in Kohima and Wokha district during which medical personnel conducted health-themed events including visiting various villages. Separate press releases were received here on Thursday from the two district’s respective health agency.
Kohima: The World Malaria Day was observed on April 25 by the Kohima National Vector Borne diseases control programme (NVBDCP) staffs under the chief medical officer’s office at ten villages namely Mitelephe, Khonoma, Sechu zubza, Nerhema, Rumensenyu, K station , Tesophenyu , Rengmapani, Tseminyu, and Zisunyu under Kohima district.
Activities such as sources reduction and cleanliness drive were conducted. The participants on the event were surveillance workers, Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA), MTS, and the consultant. The overall programme was conducted successfully with the cooperation received from the villagers, the press release stated.
Wokha: The NVBDCP staffs and ASHA of Wokha district observed World Malaria Day in ten selected villages. They took active part in wide range of activities to mark the World Malaria day. The activities included ‘blood-slide collection,’ rapid diagnostic test, and distribution of pamphlets and dustbins. Various topics were discussed to create awareness among the community about these man-made diseases. Proper use of long lasting insecticidal nets and ‘malaria elimination by 2024’ were also highlighted to the community, the press release added.
