Winners of painting competition with the Judges and officials on the occasion of World Malaria Day in Kohima on Saturday.[/caption] EMN DIMAPUR, APRIL 26 [dropcap]A[/dropcap]long with the rest of world, Kohima District Health Society in collaboration with the District Education Office (DEO), Kohima commemorated ‘World Malaria Day’ April 25 last at TM Government Higher Secondary School on the theme ”Clean environment, free Malaria”.At the inaugural programme, Dy MEIO, Nikono Nakhro highlighted on the significance of the day and briefed the gathering on how malaria is spread. She encouraged community participation to create awareness. She also shared about the preventive measures and services available to the participants. Painting and Sketching competition was organized with an aim to create awareness among the students about malaria and to encourage people to promote and learn of the efforts made to prevent and control malaria around the world. Speaking on the theme “Clean environment, free malaria,” Junior Education officer (JEO), Kaitunchap Newmai urged the students and teachers to keep surrounding clean to reduce mosquito breeding ground and prevent the spread of malaria. A total of 27 students from 14 schools of Kohima participated in the competition. Award for the best two participants were presented with cash prizes and meritorious certificates. First prize was bagged by P Pusa of Mezhur Higher Secondary School and while the second prize went to Chothano of Chandmari Higher Secondary School. The other participants were also awarded with certificates and cash incentives.
