Dimapur, June 17 (EMN): A four-day workshop on spoken language and speech analysis kicked off at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, on June 17. The seminar will conclude on Thursday, June 20.
Organised by Centre for Naga Tribal Language Studies (CNTLS), Nagaland University, Kohima Campus in collaboration with IIT Guwahati, the workshop aims at equipping 30 participants from Nagaland, Meghalaya and Assam with the necessary tools to study and analyse spoken language, informed an update issued by the coordinator of the event.
In his key note address, Dr. Priyankoo Sarmah, Associate Professor, Centre for Linguistics Science and Technology, IIT-Guwahati, spoke on collaborative and interdisciplinary nature of language study and highlighted the urgent need to establishing a nexus between the two centres
Guest of honour of the event, Prof. D. Koulie, Head, department of Linguistics, NU spoke on the utility of speech analysis and correlation between language and literature. Prof. Samudravijaya, IIT- Guwahati, gave a brief insight into how language and knowledge of engineering work together in machine languages.
Prof A. K Mishra, Pro Vice-Chancellor (i/c) was the chief guest of the workshop.
