Imphal, Oct. 28: A one day awareness workshop on Information Technology (IT) Act, copyright and cyber crime was held under the aegis of department of computer science and engineering of Manipur Technical University (MTU) at its Takyelpat complex at Imphal on Saturday.
Vice Chancellor of the MTU Dr Laiphrakpam Tombi Singh inaugurated the workshop wherein LMS Law college lecturer Sapam Dilip Singh,Kolkata based CDAC’s Koushik Maiti,Cyber crime cell division DSP John spoke on the IT Act, cuber forensics and tools related issues and cyber crimes.
According to Debina Laishram of computer science and engineering department of the MTU, the workshop was organised exclusively for the students of the varsity to provide with in depth knowledge and skills to protect their information assets where the students can acquire understanding of various computer and network security threats such as identity theft, credit card fraud, online banking, virus and backdoors, emails hoaxes, loss of confidential information, hacking attacks and social engineering etc.
