Workshop on child rights held in Peren

[caption id="attachment_271500" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Organisers, resource persons and participants pose for a photograph during the sensitisation programme on child rights and child protection in Peren town on September 14.[/caption] Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Peren organised a one-day sensitisation programme on “Child rights and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act 2015” at Perenkipeuzang village on September 14. A press release issued by DCPU Peren informed that the sensitisation workshop was conducted with an aim to enlighten the unreached rural community about child rights and child protection. DCPO of Peren, Avika Zhimomi highlighted the structure of the Integrated Child Protection Services (ICPS) in his keynote address at the event. He also asserted that every individual should take up the responsibility of protecting the rights of children “for a peaceful society.” Legal-cum-probation officer, Peren, Asungbe spoke on Juvenile Justice Act (JJ ACT) and POCSO Act 2015, while PO (NIC) Vihoto Kinny spoke on the role and functions of the village-level child protection committee (VLCPC). They were the resource persons of the event. The programme was chaired by Imliwapang Jamir, asst. cum data entry operator (CWC), and vote of thanks delivered by Paulie, Social worker DCPU, Peren.
