- DIMAPUR — A
seven-day workshop on "Advances in research and methodology,” organised by
the Department of Zoology got underway at Nagaland University, Lumami campus,
on March 4.
- In his welcome address, Prof. Bendang Ao, head of Zoology
department, expressed gratitude to the participants and emphasised the
importance of such workshops in fostering academic growth and research
excellence.
- Prof. Ranjit Kumar, the convenor of the workshop, provided
an overview of the workshop highlighting the key objectives, which included
familiarising participants with advanced research tools, software for data
analysis and techniques for creating scientific diagrams. Prof. Kumar also
stressed the importance of integrating modern methodologies into research
practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency, stated an update from the
university.
- It stated that Priyakshi Sinha mesmerised the audience with
a melodious song, while Khanwang G Konyak rendered a traditional Naga song
titled "Zowe Keleu Eyimi."
- In his address, Prof. MK Sinha, the chief guest, underscored
the inevitability of advancement and development in society. Drawing parallels
between traditional teaching methods such as chalk and blackboard and modern
tools like smart boards, he emphasised the need for continuous innovation in
research. He also highlighted the critical role of research in driving economic
development and urged participants to embrace innovative ideas to contribute
meaningfully to scientific progress.
- Prof. MS Rawat, guest of honour, spoke on the significance
of integrating advanced research methodologies to enhance the accuracy and
interpretability of scientific data. He emphasised the importance of publishing
high-quality research in reputed journals and noted that developed countries
lead in this regard. He also encouraged Indian researchers to step up their
efforts to make significant contributions to the global scientific community.
