
DIMAPUR — A five-day workshop on accounting, auditing, and taxation, organised by the Department of Cooperation, commenced at CTC Medziphema on Monday, with Under Secretary, Department of Cooperation, Wacy Kent, as the special guest of the inaugural programme.
In his address, Kent lauded the department for organising such an important programme, which aims to equip the department officials to execute their activities with confidence, a DIPR report stated.
The official emphasised that cooperative awareness and sensitisation should be taken up in order to educate and impart training to the people at the grassroot level and create a meaningful impact in the lives of the rural populace.
He expressed optimism that such initiatives would bring positive results in the process of promoting cooperative movements in the state.
Earlier, the keynote address was delivered by finance trainer, National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), New Delhi, Anurag Dang and additional RCS, Bendangla Longkumer exhorted the participants.
The subjects covered during the workshop include equipping the participants with the necessary skills required to prepare and maintain accurate accounting records, enabling participants to effectively prepare and interpret financial statements, and providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of relevant provisions of the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, as applicable to the state of Nagaland.
The workshop will also equip participants with the necessary skills required to conduct audits of cooperative societies and enhance their auditing skills by providing insights into legal provisions governing audits, the classification of societies using CAMELS rating, audit reporting, etc.
The programme was chaired by deputy RCS and training coordinator, Bharati Chhinal. Altogether, 63 ICS, SRCS and ARCS are attending the workshop, which will culminate on May 24.
