Dimapur, April 12 (EMN): Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats (IDoWH) and Project Elephant organised a workshop-cum-awareness program was conducted for fringe villages of Intanki National Park on April 7 at Intanki National Park ‘A’ Range HQ and Ahthibung Forest Colony on April 12.
The beneficiary villages received different schemes like poultry, piggery, horticulture and drinking water facility.
Field Director of Intanki National Park, Heuneilung elaborated about the important role of the fringe villages in protection of the park and the direct and indirect benefit they will receive out of the National Park. He also encourages the villagers to co-operate with the department in the protection of the Intanki National Park.
EAC Ahthibung, Lithrila, emphasized the role to be played by the fringe villages towards the guarding and protection of the National Park. She also supported in controlling the fishing, hunting and asserted to give full co-operation to the Protection Force in protecting the National Park. She suggested giving more schemes to the villages who contribute more cooperation to the department in controlling the illegal activities as award.
The participants from different villages expressed appreciation for organizing such program and assured to extend their cooperation.
Beneficiaries from fringe villages namely: Manglumukh, Beisumpuikam, Jalukiekam, Jalukiezangdi , Lilen and Pellhang of Intanki National Park ‘A’ Range and New Beisumpui, Bongkolong, New Soget, Beisumpuilao, Ikiesingram, Khelma, New Nkio , Nkio ‘B’ and New Ngoulong of Intanki National Park ‘B’ Range attended the workshop.
