Dimapur, Dec. 4 (EMN): An energetic youth from Jakhama village named Kelethuto Yosa has a stall that displays his crafting prowess in alder woodwork. His stall at the Bamboo Pavilion in Kisama village is the ‘Yosa furniture unit.’ It hosts crafts made entirely of Alder, the state tree of Nagaland. According to updates from the DIPR, the youth has a Bachelor’s in history from Delhi University.
Yosa’s work is simple and impressive and often gets a second look from visitors at the festival. He ventured into this business out of passion for handicrafts and woodcarving.
Yosa’s items at the stall include stools, dining tables, and centre tables among others. They are made of Alder grown in Jakhama village, with some claimed to have aged for more than 200 to 300 years. He said that people, particularly tourists from outside the state, show a desire to buy his products but they cannot due to lack of transportation and the difficulty involved in shipping them, he said.
