Dimapur, July 1 (EMN): The Lotha Hoho has announced that it will not allow the proposed Dimapur to Tizit railway line pass through Wokha district unless the Lotha public are convinced that it will be of benefit to them.
In a press release issued on Monday, the organisation stated it does not understand why there should be a parallel railway line from Dimapur to Tizit. “This proposed railway is understood to run in parallel to the existing NEF railway line with only a few kilometres apart, from each other, and with a dead end at Tizit.
“The laying of a parallel railway line just about 6 kilometres apart from each other is found unjustified, since there is hardly any industrial, mineral, agricultural etc., products or metropolitan cities, at either ends so as to necessitate such a railway facility. Unfortunately there is neither of these requirements and above all reasons, the terminal point, at Tizit, is to be a dead end,” it stated.
Unless there an ulterior motive, the Lotha Hoho stated, it fails to understand why there should be such an “unnecessary initiative.”
It has also written to the deputy commissioner of Wokha cautioning that no such parallel railway, just a few kilometres apart from the existing NEF railway, will not be allowed to pass through Lotha territory.
“For the above reasons it is to inform all readers and all concerned that any such parallel railway, through Lotha land, without the consent of the Lotha Hoho, will attract stern opposition from the Lotha tribe and the concerned authority (sic) will be held responsible,” it stated.
