The final hearing on the Special Leave Petition (SLP) on the case of reservation for women in elections to Nagaland’s municipal bodies which was scheduled for today could not take place as the Court could hear only three cases.
According to the Joint Action Committee on Women Reservation (JACWR), the case was listed as item No.19 to be heard in the Supreme Court No 12, however, the Bench could reach only till item No.3 and the rest of the listed matters including the elections to Nagaland’s municipal bodies case will be heard before the same bench of judges next Tuesday, January 19, as decided by the bench. The petitioners and their advocates as well as the State Government counsels were present throughout the day at the Court today, it was learnt.
