Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): With the objective to educate and empower the women about their rights and train them on the skills and techniques of peace to work for peace building in the society, a three-day seminar was conducted from May 26-28 on the theme “Women in peace building” at Don Bosco Institute of Development & Leadership (DBIDL), Dimapur. The seminar was organised by Nagaland Catholic Women’s Association (NCWA) in collaboration with Peace Channel.
The resource persons of the seminar were Fr. Dr. CP Anto, founder and Director of Peace Channel; Dr. Akum Longchar, Editor & CEO Morung Express; Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu, Head of English Department, Nagaland University cum Advisor of Naga Women Association; Mrs Liangsi Niumai, Advocate and Director of Care-Centre for Environment and Rural Poor, Dimapur; Samir Bordoloi, freelance organic farmer, consultant and Agripreneur.
During the seminar, resource persons stressed on “Skills & status of women in conflict situation,” “Women participation in conflict resolution & peace building,” “Role of women in peace building activities,” “ Women as an agents for positive change,” and “To bring peace in the society by improving the economy through organic farming.”
The seminar consisted of lectures, group discussions, peace celebration, audio visual learning sessions and different exercises to learn the importance of truth, mercy, justice and peace and to convey the message of our present society.
Through different sessions, participants were trained to be a good peace builder by empowering oneself, raise voice for voiceless, be a good book and be a source of inspiration for others, to work on organic farming and improve the economy of the society by utilising the available natural resources and bring sustainable peace in the society.
The seminar turn out to be a boon as well as an eye opening session for all the participants as they were equipped with lots of beneficial inputs which will helped them in attaining peace within oneself, in the family, society and the world at large.
The seminar concluded with two action plans- every community/ parish/ region to conduct training programmes and get trained with the assistance of Peace Channel and Nagaland Catholic Women Association in promoting and skilling the women on peace building and dialogue as well as forming Women Peace Cell in different parishes of the dioceses.
More than 80 women leaders from different tribes, region, and parishes of Nagaland attended the seminar.
