Dimapur, Jan. 6 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) has condoled the demise of Lathon Kemp, who wove the first Naga national flag. She passed away on January 5 at her native village Sendenyu under Rengma region.

“Naga people believe that God must have inspired her to work on this flag to give political meaning and identity to the Naga people as a nation.

Henceforth, the Naga political movement was carried out under the banner of this God given flag. It was this beautiful flag with rainbow and

Bethlehem star that inspired and lead the Naga people throughout. This flag is also identified as God’s covenant with the Naga people that He will be with the Nagas,” NSCN (IM)’s statement read.

NSCN (IM) conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty God to grant them strength and courage to bear with the loss. It further prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.

The Naga national flag would fly at half mast on January 7 as a mark of respect to Lathon Kemp, it added.
