A woman succumbed to her injuries after being attacked and robbed by an unknown person in Jalukie on Saturday. Reports said that one Akiam of Mpai was attacked with machete on the night of January 1 but succumbed today in Jalukie. The police have no clue on the identity of the attacker, sources said.
Meanwhile, Jalukie Town Youth Organization (JTY) has strongly condemned the murder of Akiam of Old Market Colony Jalukie town who was attacked with machete and later succumbed to the injuries inflicted “all over her body” on Saturday.
The youth organization said that such incidents are rare and cannot be tolerated in any circumstances under the jurisdiction of the organization. It then appealed the district administration and the police to immediately arrest the culprit and take appropriate measures to prevent such cases in the future. The organization also offers its deepest condolence to the bereaved family.
Also strongly condemning the incident, the Jalukie Students’ Union said attacking and robbing the helpless elderly woman who earned her livelihood with hard works and labour is unimaginable. The union said such inhuman act is “foreign to our culture and society” and that the society should be condemned by all sections from the highest level. It then urged the authority to investigate the case and book the culprit at the earliest and befit highest punishment as per the law.
It then conveyed its deepest condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
