- DIMAPUR — A woman
in her 30s was allegedly killed by her husband in a suspected case of domestic
violence. The incident reportedly occurred in the intervening night of June 12
and 13 at their residence in Walford, Dimapur.
- According to police sources, the victim, a mother of five,
was reportedly attacked with a machete (Naga dao) following a heated argument
between the couple.
- The accused, identified as Akheto Sumi, aged around 40, was
taken into police custody early Friday morning after local authorities were
alerted about the incident between 5 and 6 am. The body of the victim was
recovered and sent for post-mortem examination before being handed over to the
family.

- While the motive behind the argument remains unclear,
preliminary reports suggest that the accused may be a substance user. An FIR
has been lodged in connection with the incident, and police have initiated an
investigation.
- This marks the third reported case of domestic violence
leading to the death of a woman by her husband in Nagaland in the last five
months. The earlier incidents occurred on February 9 at Thilixu village and
April 7 between Mhaikam and Pimla villages.
