Dimapur, April 5 (EMN): A woman was killed on the spot when a Mahindra Scorpio heading to Dimapur from Tesen village, Peren District fell approximately 150 feet below into the Chathe River near Chumukedima Police check gate, NH 29. The deceased has been identified as Alo Zeliang, aged 64.
As per Dimapur Traffic Police Zone 2, the deceased Alo was found dead beneath the vehicle while other occupants of the vehicle, driver identified as Iranchi Zeliang and Leikiezui Zeliang, 51-year-old woman (wife of ex-MLA Tarei Zeliang) who were also severely injured were taken to Referral Hospital. The other injured identified as Aseu Zeliang (61, male), was admitted at HK Hospital in Chumukedima and said to be in critical condition.
The accident occurred at around 1 pm on Wednesday, and as per the account of the driver, traffic police said the vehicle hit a stone and fell down the gorge. A suo motu case has been registered in this connection, said the traffic official.
