Dimapur, August 5 (EMN): A woman from Dimapur passed away at around 1:30 am on Wednesday. The deceased was said to have tested positive for Covid-19 on TrueNat at a private hospital.
A family member of the deceased told Eastern Mirror that the patient had fever a week ago before starting having difficulty in breathing about a couple of days back.
According to a reliable source from the Covid hospital in Dimapur, the woman "was on oxygen at home with all the safety measures since her RT-PCR report, which was taken on Monday, August 3, was awaited".
‘But even after 24-hour observation, her oxygen saturation did not improve, so we contemplated on shifting her to Covid-19 hospital isolation ward but knowing she would still be administered with oxygen since, she could not be kept in ICU without RT-PCR report,’ the source said.
It was informed that the family decided to keep her in the comforts of their home with continuous oxygen supply but her conditioned worsened after 1 am on Wednesday and passed away.
When asked about the number of days it takes to get RT-PCR report, the source said "there are too many backlogs".
Meanwhile, the source refuted the claims on social media that the Covid hospital denied admission to the patient.
A family member of the deceased also clarified to this newspaper that the family decided to take care of the patient from home.
