KOHIMA — In an unfortunate incident, a 58-year-old woman died after being knocked down by a scooty (two-wheeler taxi) rider while crossing the road in the NST area in Kohima, at around 8 am on Friday.
The woman, identified as non-Naga, was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Additional Superintendent of Police and PRO, Kohima, T Relo Aye told Eastern Mirror that a suo moto case was filed at the North Police station, Kohima.
The rider, aged 23, was arrested and is currently under police custody for further investigation.
The police officer ruled that the accident was the caused due to ‘overspeeding’ by the rider.
