Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): The district election officer (DEO) of Wokha district Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon along with beauty pageant winners representing the district launched a Clean Election signature campaign on Feb. 9 at the deputy commissioner’s office in Wokha. The DPRO gave updates about the event on Fri.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, Samoon who is also the deputy commissioner of the district said that the DEO’s office was starting the signature campaign with the target to getting at least 20 to 30 thousand signatures to promote the cause of ethical elections.
The campaigners are said to be scheduling a visit to remote households in the four assembly constituencies of the district to get signatures from citizens seeking to support the cause of clean elections in the state, the DEO informed.
The officer expressed optimism that the message of clean election would reach the grass root.
