Local youth group from Wokha, Team Metamorphosis, will be organizing the second edition of the Wokha Festival of Music & Indigenous Games/Arts with the theme “Vibrant Culture for social progress.” The event will be conducted from November 4, and will culminate on November 6 in Wokha town.
“The aim of this festival is to create a befitting platform and to exhibit the latent talent of the youth especially in the field of music and also to revive, preserve and promote our fast disappearing indigenous culture,” Team Metamorphosis stated in a press release issued to the media on Monday.
On the 4th of November, the opening ceremony, Dr. TM Lotha, advisor to Treasuries and Accounts, Relief & Rehabilitation, will attend as the chief guest.The Ao Naga community in Wokha town will be giving cultural performances during the event. It will be followed by indigenous games, the organizers.
“People of all age group shall get the opportunity to learn and play indigenous games this week,” the group stated. On the 5th and 6th of November, Subenthung Kithan, president of the Naga Students’ Federation, and Mhonthung Tungoe, assistant director for Food and Supplies, will be the patrons of the indigenous games segments.
“It is an occasion where our indigenous games and sports are given due identification with an aim for preservation & promotion of our rich culture. At the valedictory function Shri Tokavi Achumi, additional superintendent of Police, Wokha will be the chief guest during the where the Rengma community shall perform special cultural presentation,” the group said.
