Wokha, Dec.14 (EMN): The 38th ‘mandal’ of the Bharata Janatiya Party (BJP) of Wokha conducted a booth-level training programme on Thur. at the Wokha town hall. The programme imparted election-related training to the party’s workers as part of the organisation’s preparation for the forthcoming assembly elections.
BJP leader and organizing secretary in-charge of Nagaland Ananta Mishra and state BJP leaders were at the training too.
Short speeches were delivered by state BJP leaders during the training. The resource persons were Dr M Chuba Ao, former president; K James Vizo and Shri Yanghose Sangtam, convener and co-convener of the party’s media cell, in that order. Sangtam claimed that the BJP was a party ‘with a difference and cadre-based party’ that ‘stood for development.’ He highlighted the ‘past and present achievements’ of BJP governments, claiming that ‘besides being a development-centric party’ the BJP was also ‘pro-poor and corruption-free.’ He called upon the party’s workers to ‘work for development’ and for the BJP’s victory.
Dr. M Chuba Ao stressed on the role of booth-level workers saying they were indispensible to ensuring victory of the party’s candidates during the elections. He appreciated the Wokha district BJP for its ‘loyalty and discipline.’
Also, K James Vizo remarked in his speech that the pioneers of the state’s BJP were from Wokha district from where leaders reportedly played a vital role in establishing the party in Nagaland.
Further, he claimed ‘secular’ credentials of the BJP saying that the organisation was ‘purely a political party.’ He claimed even further: the level of corruption ‘went down drastically in Assam and Manipur after BJP came to power.’
According to Vizo, it was ‘only right that BJP should form the next government for stability, good governance, performance and corruption-free government where Nagas could see transformation, transparency and development.’ Declaring that he was proud to be a member of the BJP, Vizo appealed to the party’s workers to be ‘proud of their affiliation with BJP as it was the strongest and biggest party in the country at present.’ He has challenged the booth-level workers to encourage a spirit of competition among their selves to secure victory in the coming elections.
