- WOKHA — The Wokha
Village Students’ Union (WVSU) on Friday held its platinum jubilee souvenir
release programme at the Wokha village community hall with MLA and chairman of
Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, as
the special guest.
- Speaking at the programme, Humtsoe described the day as a
momentous occasion, reflecting on the union's journey through times when
resources were scarce. He expressed gratitude to God for the progress of the
village and its people and urged the community to remember and honour the
contributions of those who have passed away.
- He underlined the importance of the jubilee souvenir in
preserving memories and providing a platform for reflection and reminiscence.
He commended the union’s 75-year journey as a remarkable achievement and
encouraged the students to strive for excellence and contribute to the union’s
continued growth.
- Humtsoe also announced the introduction of a civil services
coaching sponsorship programme for bonafide citizens of the 38-Wokha Assembly
Constituency. The initiative aims to support 25 aspirants from economically
weaker sections (EWS) by sponsoring a seven-month comprehensive coaching
programme for the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) and Nagaland Staff
Selection Board (NSSB) examinations.
- The programme seeks to promote meritocracy and provide
greater educational opportunities to aspiring candidates from financially
disadvantaged backgrounds under Wokha constituency.
- The chairman of Wokha Village Council, Vandan Erui, who also
spoke at the event, noted that good deeds always yield positive returns. He
wished all contributors to the jubilee souvenir good luck and success in life.
- Y Likao Humtsoe, convenor of the history and magazine
committee, highlighted the importance of preserving history and identity. He
acknowledged the tremendous efforts put into creating the souvenir and extended
his gratitude to everyone who supported its publication.
