Chanka Colony Women Council of Wokha town celebrates its silver jubilee.

WOKHA — The Chanka Colony Women Council (CCWC), Wokha town, celebrated its silver jubilee on Friday at the residence of Dr. Zubon Humtsoe on the theme ‘Women who inspire change.’
The event commemorated the council’s journey in promoting women’s role in family, society, and community life.
Delivering the theme address, Thungchano Kikon, councillor of Ward 10, underscored the vital contribution of women in nurturing values, discipline, and compassion within families and society.
She described mothers as the first teachers and role models, and urged women to remain resilient, united, and proactive in fostering social harmony and development.

Extending New Year greetings, Thungbeni Ngullie, president of the Lotha Eloe Hoho, highlighted the cultural significance of women in preserving traditions and moral values.
She expressed gratitude to Dr. Humtsoe for hosting the programme in the absence of a community hall and encouraged ward councillors to continue their dedicated service.
Ngullie also addressed contemporary challenges, particularly the use of mobile phones among youth.
While acknowledging their benefits for learning and communication, she cautioned against misuse that could affect behaviour, discipline, and cultural values. She called upon parents and elders to guide children towards responsible use of technology.
Paying tribute to past members, she lauded the unity and teamwork that have sustained the council for 25 years, noting that its existence today is owed to the vision and dedication of its founding members.
The programme was chaired by Nzanrhoni Yanthan, president of the council.
Invocation was offered by Shumbeni Tsopoe, deaconess at PBC, followed by a welcome address from the chairperson.
A silent prayer for departed members was led by Mhalo W Kikon, while N Yilano Tungoe presented highlights on the council’s formation. Prayer for blessings was offered by Emilo Tungoe.
The jubilee souvenir was released by Ngullie, followed by felicitation. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Nribeni Humtsoe, general secretary of the council.
