‘Son shot three times’
Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): A community organisation in Wokha town has demanded immediate action from the district’s administration against those responsible for the reported assault of a citizen and his son by supporters of an electoral candidate in the town on Jan. 18.
The Wokha Humtso Elumyo Senior Youth Welfare Forum (WHESYWD) issued a press release on Fri. denouncing what it called the ‘physical assault’ of Etsorhomo Yanthan, said to be the vice-president of the forum; his son E Renbithung Yanthan and ‘the whole family’ at their private residence at GA colony on Jan. 18 at 11 p.m. by supporters of one Y Mhombemo Humtsoe, stated to be an intending candidate from the 38th assembly constituency of the district. They were led by one Tumchobemo Kikon, a resident of Vungotchu colony in the town, the press release alleged.
‘Renbithung Yanthan was indiscriminately shot three times on his head, neck and chest at point blank range with .22 pistol,’ the press release stated.
“The WHESYWF totally condemns such heinous act and demand immediate arrest of Khyolomo Humtsoe for instigating violence and perpetrators of the incident in order to avoid further repercussions,” the organisation stated.
‘Should the law enforcement agencies fail to arrest the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment, the WEESYWF resolve that if any untoward incidents arise out of this issue, the concerned forum shall not be held responsible,’ the group added.
HVYO: The Humtso Village Youth Organization (HVYO) has condemned the alleged crime committed upon a citizen, one Renbithung E Yanthan, stated to be a member of Humtso village; he was reported shot by a group of miscreants on Jan.18 at around 11 p.m. at his residence.
The organisation has strongly appealed to all sections of the society and to the right-thinking citizens to condemn the alleged act. It also urged the law enforcement to book the culprits and award them befitting punishment.
HSU: Also, the Humtso Students’ Union (HSU) has condemned the alleged assault meted out to the family of Etsorhomo Yanthan, and in this process injuring his son Renbithung Yanthan, a student of Bailey Baptist College of Wokha. He was allegedly shot three times by one Tumchobemo Kikon of Longsa village on Jan. 18 at 11 p.m, it was alleged.
“While the whole Naga society is shoving for peace, such heinous and terrorizing act of violence is to be condemned by one and all,” the union stated.
Condemning the ‘murderous act,’ the students’ union urged the authorities to nap those responsible and to serve them befitting punishment as per the law of the land.
