Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): Out of the total 188 tests conducted on the returnees, Wokha district has registered nil Covid-19 case till date. Besides Wokha, Kiphire, Longleng and Mokokchung districts have also not reported any Covid-19 case till date.

Delivering a report on Covid-19 related activities in the district during the monthly meeting of the Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on June 23, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha stated that the district has received 446 returnees so far out of which 226 returnees were released for home quarantine, while 179 are under institutional quarantine.

Orenthung, who is also the vice chairman of Wokha DPDB, welcomed the new members namely assistant development commissioner (planning) Nchubemo Kikon, and excise inspector Phira. The meeting was also attended by advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan and MLA Dr. Chumben Murry.

During the meeting, the board recommended for the approval of the state government on LADP schemes and common pool 2020-21 of Wokha district, a DIPR report stated.

Chairman of Wokha DPDB, MhathungYanthan, thanked all the frontline workers for their tireless effort in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic. He also urged the district task force to apprise any difficulties faced by them so that the matter could be taken up to the higher authority for necessary action.

Also participating in the discussion, Dr. Chumben Murry suggested the conversion of trauma care centre, which is attached to Wokha district hospital, into a quarantine centre. The report stated that after a thorough discussion, the board agreed to convert the trauma centre into a quarantine centre as most of the schools and institutions, which have been converted into quarantine centre, are to be handed over for the expected resumption of normal classes.

The board also discussed on dismal performance of government schools in the district in the recently declared HLSC results. However, due to absence of concerned department heads, who have retired recently, the issue was deferred to the next board meeting for thorough introspection involving all the stakeholders of the district for better performance for the next academic session.
