wOKHA RALLY CALLS FOR UNITY IN lOTHA BAPTIST CHURCHES

Members of the LBYLF pray during the rally on Thursday.

  • WOKHA — The Lotha Baptist Youth Leaders Forum (LBYLF) organised a rally on Thursday at Vankhosung Ground to promote peace and unity within the Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA). Due to heavy rainfall, the event was later shifted to Wokha Village Baptist Church.

  • LBYLF convenor of the rally, Chenirao Jungi, clarified that the rally aimed solely at addressing the division within LBCA, emphasising that the matter concerns the entire Lotha community and requires an urgent resolution.

  • He refuted rumours of external influence, asserting that the rally was conducted independently and peacefully. Noting the lack of progress in the past three years, he stated that the youth have now stepped in, united by the belief that LBCA must remain undivided.

  • During the program, the LBYLF submitted a formal appeal to the executive secretaries of both factions, highlighting the difficulties faced by Lotha Baptist youths due to the division.

  • It was urged that the LBCA leadership find an amicable resolution, expressing confidence in their ability to do so while affirming that the LBYLF would continue advocating until the churches are unified under one LBCA within the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC).

  • Copies of the letter were sent to key stakeholders, including the NBCC, Lotha Baptist Pastors Conference, Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Officers Forum, and LSU for record.

  • The rally featured solidarity speeches and a mass prayer session, where participants knelt in earnest prayer for unity and reconciliation.

  • Earlier, on May 14, in a letter signed by LBCA (Reformation) members and addressed to the Lotha Baptist Youths, the LBCA (Reformation) urged its unit members not to attend the proposed rally.

  • The notification stated that the individual initiating the rally were not recognised by LBCA (Reformation), nor is LBYLF a recognised institution or a member of LBCA.
