Wokha observes biannual National Deworming Day

Dimapur, Oct. 19 (EMN): District Programme Manager Mhonbeni Ezung launched the second phase of biannual National Deworming Day at the Government higher Secondary School (GHSS) anganwadi centre in Wokha on Monday.

Speaking at the launching programme, Ezung said that the main objective is to help children (1-19 years) reduce transmission of parasitic intestinal worm infection and thereby improve the nutritional status and overall growth of children, an update informed. 

Dr. Kuokholie Savino, medical officer RBSK highlighted the importance of administering deworming tablets to children on a periodic basis as it prevents reinfection and morbities in children. He informed that a total of 33,778 children approximately between 1 to 19 years of age will be given albendazole tablets in 354 anganwadi centres across the district.
