WOKHA — The Department of Social Welfare, Wokha, marked the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah with a nutrition awareness rally organised by the Office of the District Programme Officer (ICDS) at the DC Office compound, Wokha, on Tuesday.
Renbomo Ezung, additional deputy commissioner of Wokha, attended the programme as special guest and flagged off the rally.
In his address, Ezung underscored the importance of nutrition in enhancing community health and wellbeing. He called upon stakeholders to ensure meaningful observance of Poshan Maah, particularly in Wokha district, while highlighting this year’s themes—obesity, early childhood care and education (Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi), infant and young child feeding practices, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, and Men’s Involvement in Nutrition and Caregiving.

District Programme Officer (ICDS) Bonathung Ngullie, in his welcome address, acknowledged the support of the district administration, medical department, traffic police, and SP office for facilitating the event. He also extended special thanks to the forest department, Wokha division, for providing free saplings for the plantation drive.
The Poshan Pledge was administered by Khesakevi, supervisor, Wokha ICDS. The rally culminated at NST Junction, with participation from Anganwadi workers and helpers under the Wokha ICDS Project. Participants carried placards promoting Poshan Abhiyaan initiatives, Anganwadi services, growth monitoring, complementary feeding, PMMVY, and maternal and child health programmes.
As part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, fruit tree saplings were distributed to participants for plantation at Anganwadi centres, symbolising care for nature and mothers.
Rashtriya Poshan Maah, observed nationwide from September 17 to October 16, aims to foster mass awareness and collective responsibility on nutrition, with a focus on women, children, and adolescent girls.
