Wokha district tops in Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana enrolment

Wokha district secured first position at the state-level and fourth position at the national-level in the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) enrolment drive.

DIMAPUR — Wokha district secured first position at the state-level and fourth position at the national-level in the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) enrolment drive held from July 15 to August 15.


Wokha district achieved 511% of the enrolment target set by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, marking it as one of the best performing districts in the country.

An update from the State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) stated that Nagaland as a whole registered 1399 beneficiaries during the special drive, reflecting the combined efforts of the department of Social Welfare and district administrations.


It mentioned that the PMMVY scheme is a conditional maternity benefit programme using the platform of the Anganwadi services. All eligible beneficiaries would receive cash incentive of INR 5000 for the first child and INR 6000 for the second child provided it is a girl child through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).


It further stated that PMMVY is an ongoing programme and eligible beneficiaries could visit the nearest Anganwadi centre for registration.
