- DIMAPUR — Wokha
district is set to host ‘Folk Festival’ from February 26 to the 28, 2025 in
Doyang area.
- This was informed by the president of Team Metamorphosis
(TM), Thungdemo Kyong, during the monthly meeting of Wokha District Planning
and Development Board (DPDB) held on Tuesday at the DC’s office conference
hall. He presented in detail about the festival and informed that the event is
being supported by Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with department of
Tourism.
- Commenting on the festival, the deputy commissioner (DC) of
Wokha, Vineet Kumar, informed that the event is being organised to promote
eco-tourism in the district. He requested all departments to extend support and
cooperation for the successful conduct of the event.
- A DIPR report stated that chairman of Wokha DPDB and MLA,
Mhonbemo Humtsoe, and advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, were also
present during the meeting.
- Reviewing the last meeting minute, the DC reminded the
departments, which are yet to submit the status report of the land occupied by
respective departments, to submit the same before the end of February 2025.
- Discussing on the status of Wokha- Bokajan road, which
remained un-operational for the past last two years, the executive engineer of
Road and Bridges of Baghty informed the members that the road along the stretch
has been severely cut-off at two locations. He stated that the estimates and
proposal have already been submitted to higher authority for sanction for
restoration of the said road.
- The district TB officer has highlighted about the various
campaign activities in regard to elimination of TB programme/ 100 days TB
campaign and intensive campaign to accelerate TB case detection, reduce
mortality and prevent new cases through TB burden in stratified approach
undertaken in the district.
- In regard to river rafting and Kayaking/ canoeing sports to
be taken up in Doyang and youth advisory counsel (YAC) to be implemented and
launched in Wokha district, which was presented by the district youth resource
and sports officer (DYRO), the DC requested the DYRO to prepare a draft
proposal and modalities and present in the next DPDB meeting for approval.
