DIMAPUR — The Wokha District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting at the DC’s conference hall on September 10 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of DPDB, Wokha, Vineet Kumar.


The meeting was attended by Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, and MLA Mhonbemo Humtsoe, along with heads of various departments and committee representatives, a DIPR report stated.


A major highlight of the meeting was the comprehensive discussion on the upcoming ‘Banana Festival,’ scheduled to be held on October 22 and the 23rd.

This will be the first-ever banana festival in the district, aimed at promoting agricultural innovation and local produce and strengthen market linkages.


Various committees and departments presented their progress reports and outlined preparations, including logistical arrangements, ground management, identification of banana-based by-products for exhibition, engagement of buyers and stakeholders, technical workshops, and media outreach. The house also approved the official theme of the festival.


The meeting began with a review of the previous month’s proceedings, including deliberation on the registration of Myanta Okho Society, a Wokha-based non-profit and non-governmental organisation.


The board approved and recommended the proposal for final registration to the higher authority.


Advisor Yanthan proposed an agenda on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), an online procurement platform launched by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.


He emphasised the need for training and public awareness to ensure effective utilisation of GeM, which facilitates transparent and efficient procurement for government entities.


The platform supports MSMEs, startups and women entrepreneurs, and aligns with national initiatives such as Digital India and Make in India.


Further, discussions were held on the formation of a committee for inter-departmental sports to foster camaraderie and wellness among government employees in Wokha.


Medical Superintendent of Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, Dr. N Mhonchan Kithan, shared that the hospital awarded second prize in the Kayakalp Awards by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The award recognises exemplary performance in cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control under the Swachh Bharat Mission.


The meeting concluded with appreciation for the collaborative efforts of all departments and a call for continued commitment toward district development, the report stated.

 

Phek DBDP discuses inter-departmental sports meet


Deputy Commissioner & vice chairman of DPDB Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, chaired the monthly DPDB meeting held at DC's conference hall on September 10.


According to a DIPR report, the meeting discussed Inter-Departmental Sports 2025 for the district scheduled to be held in the last part of October. In this regard, a committee headed by ADC Phek, Thejakhienuo Nisa, was constituted for formulation of all necessary relating to the tournament.


The meeting also deliberated and shared on Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan- Responsive Governance Programme for building a Viksit Bharat/Develop India by 2047. Master trainers Dzuthovilo Icho, Assistant Conservator of Forest, and Shievozo Nienu, ADEO (Edn.), highlighted its activities through PowerPoint presentation.


Executive Engineer of Road & Bridge, Phek division, Vikerhe Venyo, also highlighted the details of vehicular roads in Phek district through PowerPoint presentation.
